LOUSY ENGLISH
-------------
It's beyond doubts that the scene's
official language is English, as it's
the most commonly used and it is quite
easy to learn (compared to p.g.
French). But in lots of scrollers,
texts or in even mags, writers just
can't write correctly. It's not just
about the grammatical side, but lots
of spelling mistakes are made. And
most of the guys try to hide their
lack of knowledge by using that
so-called cracker language. I really
don't know the reason. We are living
in 1992's Europe, so it's not the case
that there are no Englishteachers or
ways to learn this language, which is
quite easy at a level we need for a
scroll or mag. It's not very
difficult to learn, but a correct
English pushes a lot on the stuff's
professionality. I really hate
discovering mistakes in so obvious
forms like: they were, and not they
was... And an articlewriter's or
swapper's basic term to speak English
very well.
The other side is real English
people's mags, like Grapevine or parts
of Stolen Data, which is quite hard to
understand for a foreigner. Not the
grammar but the idioms and words are
making reading difficult, but too good
English is far better than too bad!
It's an interesting fact that famous
scene members know English relatively
good.
